An installation without building work: promise delivered

One of the most common concerns of parish managers is about installation: do you need to call an electrician? Drill walls? Run cables? The answer is no. The LumignonLED LED candle holder plugs into a standard 230V socket and works immediately. No technical installation is required.

This guide details the steps to set up your candle holder and optimise its placement in your church.

Step 1: Receive and inspect the candle holder

The LumignonLED LED candle holder is delivered assembled and ready to use. Upon reception:

  • Check the packaging integrity and report any issue immediately
  • Remove the candle holder carefully — it weighs approximately 30 kg, so plan for two people to handle it
  • Visually check that all 40 LED candles are in place
  • Locate the power cable and mains plug

Step 2: Choose the right location

Positioning the candle holder is crucial for both use and visual impact. Here are the criteria to consider:

Proximity to a power socket

The candle holder requires a standard 230V power supply. Ideally, the socket should be within 2 metres. If not, a discreet extension lead will do — white or stone-coloured extensions blend well in religious buildings. In all cases, ensure the cable does not create a trip hazard.

Visibility and accessibility

  • Side chapel: the classic location, often near a statue of the Virgin Mary or a saint. Worshippers naturally find the contemplative atmosphere they need here.
  • Church entrance: some parishes prefer placing the candle holder at the entrance, so every visitor can light a candle upon arrival.
  • Near the collection box: since the system works on trust, place the candle holder next to the collection box so the offering gesture is natural and fluid.

Stable, flat surface

At 30 kg with its metal structure, the candle holder is inherently stable. Nonetheless, place it on a flat, solid surface. If the floor is uneven (old flagstones, for example), check that the candle holder does not wobble. Simple shimming will suffice if needed.

Step 3: Plug in and test

This is the simplest step:

  1. Plug the mains connector into the 230V socket
  2. Press one of the push buttons
  3. The corresponding LED candle should light up immediately with a realistic flame effect
  4. Test several buttons to verify everything works
  5. Note the 30-second delay between two presses on the same button — this is normal, it is a protection against accidental or repetitive activations

Each candle stays lit for 5 hours before switching off automatically. No intervention is needed.

Step 4: Arrange the space around the candle holder

To optimise the experience for worshippers, consider arranging the space:

  • A small explanatory sign: indicate that the candle holder works by push button and that offerings can be placed in the collection box. In the first few days, some worshippers will need this information.
  • A kneeler nearby for those who wish to kneel after lighting their candle
  • Subtle ambient lighting around the candle holder enhances the contemplative atmosphere
  • The collection box should be clearly visible and within easy reach

Electrical considerations

Although no installation work is needed, here are some electrical points to bear in mind:

Power consumption

LEDs consume very little energy. Even with all 40 candles lit simultaneously, consumption remains negligible on your electricity bill. It is incomparable with the cost of traditional wax candles.

Electrical protection

Ensure the socket is protected by a residual current device (RCD), which is the case in virtually all installations meeting current standards. If in doubt, an electrician can check in a few minutes.

Powering down

The candle holder can remain plugged in permanently without any risk. If you wish to power it down at night (for example in a closed church), simply unplug it or use a programmable timer on the socket.

Frequently asked questions about installation

Do I need to call a professional?

No. The candle holder plugs in like any electrical appliance. Two people are enough to position it due to its weight.

Can the candle holder be moved easily?

Yes. Nothing is fixed to the floor or wall. You can reposition it at any time, for example to bring it closer to the choir for special celebrations.

Does the candle holder work outdoors?

The LumignonLED candle holder is designed for indoor use. For outdoor use (grotto, convent courtyard), contact us to assess the specific conditions.

How long does setup take?

Less than 15 minutes — the time to position it, plug it in and check everything works. That is all.

Feedback from installed parishes

Parishes that have adopted the LED candle holder unanimously report the simplicity of installation. In Grolley as in Uvrier, the candle holder was operational on the very day of delivery. No masonry, no electrician visit, no interruption to parish life.
